Matthew Hirte's "Future Days" CD

12/26/06 New CD Review : Matthew Hirte's "Future Days" CD is a high-powered rock 'n roll musical experience: Distorted, screeching guitars, high energy rhythm section, power-packed vocals, and a tight, crisp sound. Our favorite song is the title track, which is a high energy, guitar blasting tune, with tight breaks and a hook-filled two-part harmony chorus. The CD includes tracks that show a more emotional side of Matthew's music, including Thinking of You. If you enjoy rock and roll bands like Van Halen, you'll enjoy this CD. Pick up a copy today.

"Good Man's Journey" by Neil Carswell

1/9/07 New CD Review : "Good Man's Journey" is very impressive collection of classic rock and roll songs. The songwriting is very effective, providing memorable and melodic songs with varied styles and instrumentation to keep your attention throughout the CD. The production very effectively allows Neils thoughtful and thought-provoking lyrics about his life experiences, to break through the music. Neils vocal style is very powerful and effective, and very accurately described on Neil's CD description as a "roughly hewn southern whiskey vocal style." Neil put together an impressive group of musicians to accompany him on this CD, and the excellent musicianship is apparent throughout. If you enjoy classic or southern rock and roll, or pop/rock artists as diverse as Joe Cocker, Sammy Hagar, Kid Rock, Rod Stewart, or Guns and Roses you'll enjoy this CD. Pick up a copy today!

"High Wire" by Lamont Skylark

1/20/07 New CD Review : "High Wire" is an enjoyable rock CD centered around excellent songwriting. The songwriting includes lyrics that tell interesting stories about the band's life experiences, placed nicely into melodic, roots rock music with memorable choruses. The lead vocals have an interesting raspiness and solid pitch, and are blended nicely with harmonies on many songs. The production adds interesting subtle feels to the music, but allows the songwriting and music to be the focal point. The songs are an effective blend of interesting guitar licks on songs such as Timberline, combined with a solid rhythm section, backing piano and organ topped off with tasteful harmonica fills. The music ranges from upbeat roots rock tunes to more mellow numbers such as Angel and Margaret. If you enjoy rock artists such as Tom Petty, you will enjoy Lamont Skylark's "High Wire."

Victor Gann's self-titled CD

1/22/07 New CD Review : Victor Gann's self-titled CD is a collection of instrumental songs that feature Victor's excellent guitar work. Victor shows his versatility on these songs, which range from full band hard rock (Four on the Floor, Just Another Day, and Not Now) to more subdued tracks, such as the melodic song Migraine, and the beautiful Shannon with Child. Victor's guitar playing on the tracks is very clean and impressive. The backing band is very tight and the recording sounds great. If you enjoy guitar virtuosos such as Joe Satriani, you will enjoy this CD. Pick up a copy today!

"In The Spirit of Resilient" by Evil Beaver

1/29/07 New CD Review : "In The Spirit of Resilient" is an impressive modern rock EP. Evil Beaver's music on this EP is very tight and the sound is powerful. Throughout the EP the band uses changes and breaks within songs to very effectively add dynamics to the songs. "Honey Pump" and "Cracked," which take a listener from soft verses to power-packed choruses, are excellent examples of this. Evie's lead bass licks provide an original sound to the music. If you enjoy hard-driving, powerful modern rock music, you will enjoy this EP. Pick up a copy today!
