"Organic Antidote" by Kingnaldo (Rock Artist from Georgia(GA))

Kingnaldo re-invents the musical styles of Rock/Adult Alternative music with his latest CD, "Organic Antidote." Although Kingnaldo was born in Puerto Rico, don't be fooled into thinking this isn't a hard core Rock album. Kingnaldo's inspirations of hard core rock bands of the '80's and '90's led the way for the fury and progressive modern touches he generously displays throughout the CD. Feel the passion of the bellowing guitars on "Disease" that is steeped with driving power chords while the vocals instill gruff and tough attitude. Embrace the force of the melodic lyrics of "Around the Sound" and "Can I Save This World" which melds hypnotically with the compelling music. The infectious song, "Many Times" hooks you with its energy and dynamic balance. Don't miss a chance to hear the energetic and exciting compositions of "Organic Antidote" with all the characteristics of Rock/Alternative music.

"Organic Antidote" by Kingnaldo (Rock Artist from Georgia(GA))

Kingnaldo re-invents the musical styles of Rock/ Adult Alternative music with his latest CD, "Organic Antidote." Although Kingnaldo was born in Puerto Rico, don't be fooled into thinking this isn't a hard core Rock album. Kingnaldo inspirations of hard core rock bands of the '80's and '90's led the way for the fury and progressive modern touches he generously displays throughout the CD. Very reminiscent of the group The Doors, "Antidoto Organico" is embedded with a bouncy beat, grungy guitars, and a colorful vocal tonality suggestive of the late, great Jim Morrison. These collective mixes of songs are sung with vocals that alternate between English and Spanish lyrics. Feel the passionate and soulful vocals on "Mujer Organica" while the guitar adds sweet licks. Percussive flair of the bongo's and the acoustic guitar give life to "Clasico" as the vocals are relaxed and expressive. Don't miss a chance to hear the energetic and exciting compositions of "Organic Antidote" with all the characteristics of Rock/ Alternative music.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Black Dog Syndrome with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Isolate the Cue"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Black Dog Syndrome with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Isolate the Cue"

Like playing a long-misplaced album by Americana / Roots Rock stalwarts, NRBQ, Black Dog Syndrome's debut CD, "Isolate the Cue" is at once both familiar and bracingly new. Over the course of 12 original tracks "Isolate the Cue" explores the myriad of secluded and obscure estuaries that make up the best of Americana; that is, the kind of smart and provocative elements of rock, R&B, blues, jazz, and other Southern influences that fires the imagination. In the biting sax tone of lead track "Hungry Dog," the incendiary guitar of "Driving With Her Knees," and the imagery-rich lyrics of "Steps of Hell," a listener hears the components that made artists like The Bottle Rockets, B-52's, Firewater and Southern Culture on the Skids so original and compelling. Eleven of the songs feature Kirk Ridge's corrosive vocals to deliver taut and acerbic tales from America's back roads, while co-lead vocalist Kimmie Wilson takes the helm on the engaging "Wounded," offering up the kind of sing-along melodicism of Tom Petty's finest work. Co-produced by legendary engineer Mitch Easter, Black Dog Syndrome's "Isolate the Cue" is that kind of intriguing debut CD that's sure to satisfy.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Monkey Bones with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Television "

Monkey Bones and their debut CD, "Television" is an all-out rock attack of blazing guitars, impassioned vocals, biting lyrics, and the rock-solid kind of playing to bring it all home. Buoyed by a big beat-infused rhythm section firing on all cylinders, "Television" features 12 original songs that rarely let up. But despite an almost relentless fury, The Monkey Bones deftly balance many of their riff-heavy songs with effective and at times, subtle background vocals that add dimension and nuance to a style not always noted for such attributes. Notably, "Sunny Rays" shows the band can deliver the arena rock ballad as needed while "Hammer Comin' Down" offers up a rich vein of Southern Rock swagger. Delivered with a snarl & bravado as fitting as it is emblematic, the casually thrown out line "it's all fair in love and rock & roll" in the CD's closer, "Cross-Eyed," is more than a fair summary of "Television," it's a veritable battle cry.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Roy Jay with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Lucky Guy"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Roy Jay with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Lucky Guy"

Who said you can't judge a book or CD by its cover? Roy Jay's debut album "Lucky Guy" embodies the relaxed beach tone feeling depicted in his cover artwork. There are twists on this traditional upbeat folk music throughout this disc with tracks like "In and Out of Dreams" where hand-percussion and acoustic guitar are complimented by harmonious background vocals with sing along style. Although mostly leaning towards lighter atmospheres, "Time's Page," takes a ballad approach where subtlety and style come into play nicely. The musicianship is sophisticated and mature, but Jay doesn't take himself too seriously during "Prettiest Girl in Wal-Mart" with a comical trip to the super-store. Get out your sun block as "Lucky Guy" is Americana wrapped up in a beach towel and ready to hit the sand.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Black Lung Bandits with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Bandaids on Bullet Wounds"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Black Lung Bandits with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Bandaids on Bullet Wounds"

From the infectious opening track, "It's Just Our Way," by original and innovating artists Black Lung Bandits, they establish a coalition of genres on their album "Bandaids on Bullet Wounds." The first track kicks off with an organic four on the floor pulse, balanced with dirty guitar interjections, and baritone vocal twang. There are songs with hard syncopated rhythms and riffs such as "On the Verge of a Good Feeling" or "The Girl from Iwo Jima" later juxtaposed by a more folk-infused approach, hip-hop rhyming, and even mariachi. One such example of this creativity is "Another Place" with edgy guitars, Middle Eastern tonality, and rapping rhymes. Saying that Black Lung Bandits are eclectic would be an understatement as they have originality and pull off the diversity of these genres. "Bandaids on Bullet Wounds" is a disc well worth hearing with the unique and fresh sounds of hard core rock, a touch of folk and rhyming hip-hop.

RadioIndy is pleased to present The Diviners with a GrIndie Award for the CD "The 13th Generation"

RadioIndy is pleased to present The Diviners with a GrIndie Award for the CD "The 13th Generation"

Releasing their debut disc, "The 13th Generation," The Diviners stir up some artistic arrangements of pop/rock tunes. The chemistry between this four piece group is tight and shows they are a focused ensemble. This is a well produced album as you can hear the balance between the polished vocals and instruments. Keeping time to a steady beat "Heads & Tails" is a straight forward song with strong, solid guitar hits. "Mechanical" is just one song demonstrating the great harmonies this group can dish out. Easy flowing and hypnotic, "Soft" is complemented by soft strings while the lyrics are inspiring. If you're a fan of Coldplay or Snow Patrol you will definitely want to add "The 13th Generation" to your CD collection.

"Charlie Comes First" by Artificial Happiness (Adult Alternative Artist from England)

Displaying a keen penchant for grand rock 'n' roll dramatics reminiscent of Jim Steinman's seminal productions (Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler), Artificial Happiness stakes its claims to rock glory on their 1st full-length CD, "Charlie Comes First." With a studied feel for rock's capacity as a robust storytelling vehicle, the UK band mixes guitar-laden rock with electronica flourishes & over-the-top, hook-filled choruses in a 10-song collection that's as memorable as it is immediate. "Baby to Have You I Have to Leave You" opens the CD with a Peter Gabriel-like vibe that bursts open in a chorus that's danceable & sing-along catchy; "Unknown is Her Name" is a terrific slice of classic 3-chord guitar rock that recalls Prince at his best; & "Patient Patient Love" employs Ray Davies-like theatrics to provocative & winning effect. Elsewhere, the propulsive dance track, "Pray for Me in Jesus' Name," shows the band's dance grooves are as potent as their rock thunder, & "Maria Let Me In" proves they are equally adept with a moving power ballad. With each song its own fertile & well-crafted mini-drama, Artificial Happiness' terrific CD, "Charlie Comes First," will delight on many levels, not least as a straight-up rock manifesto.

"Ten Pennies Make a Dime" by Fred Prellberg (Rock Artist from Illinois(IL))

Playing with '60's & '70's rock forms like a kitten unraveling a ball of yarn, Fred Prellberg reveals a host of vaunted influences on his most recent CD, "Ten Pennies Make a Dime." Opening with a rock salvo copping The Pirates' classic "Shakin' All Over" guitar riff, "No Man's Land" devolves into a MC5-like rock jam, underscoring the album's core rock 'n roll ethos. Elsewhere, "Mari Tamed the Mountain Lion" and the ironic "Lie" sport decidedly melodic, post-Beatles pop-rock grooves, "Hands of God," with its careening Hammond organ backing, comes across like an adrenaline-fueled, '60's garage band hyped up on Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower," and the cinematic "Tornado Alley" feels like a less-than-subtle tribute to the grandiosity of Springsteen's "Born to Run" lp. "Real Real Wild," a pure rockabilly tune with some Jordanaires-like backing and Carl Perkins-worthy accompaniment, shows the breadth of "Ten Pennies'" influences, while album closer, "The World Today" (dedicated to the late cult figure, Nikki Sudden), brings it all home with an Ian Hunter-like rocker as Prellberg & band leave the song (and album) hanging on an unresolved chord. Despite the many influences, however, Fred Prellberg's "Ten Pennies Make a Dime" CD is as cohesive as it is original, a studied exercise with literate and insightful lyrics that declares the album is more about the author's artistic vision than its many influences.

"Mind's Eye" by Hybrid Ice (Classic Rock Artist from Pennsylvania(PA))

Make no mistake about it: Hybrid Ice plays the kind of classic, over-the-top arena rock whose heyday was decades ago. That said, their mastery of the genre, and the winning combination of great songs with brilliantly-executed performances, make their new CD, "Mind's Eye," one for the ages. Boasting the kind of chops & muscle one associates with Boston, Foreigner, Styx and Journey (to name a few), "Mind's Eye" packs the kind of hooks & musicianship to make 21st century standards of rockers like CD-opener "Fight Another Day," or the powerful "Stop Searching." On the original power ballad front, the band delivers the goods with flair & expertise on "Sadder Day Morn" and "Only the Lonely." No song better sums up Hybrid Ice's return-to-glory story, though, than "Worth the Wait;" with its hooks-laden chorus & soaring harmonies, it's as good as any of Boston's greatest hits. Although "Mind's Eye" is only Hybrid Ice's 3rd album (their 1st was in 1982), one can't help but be amazed that these guys never broke through to national prominence. Their vocals, musicianship, arrangements, production and not least, rock 'n' roll passion, are not only dead-on, they're genre-defining. But as bands like Nickelback lead the classic rock parade in the new millennium, Hybrid Ice's "Mind's Eye" CD need take no back seat when it comes to timeless & compelling rock albums.

"Red Letter Day" by Tom Lucas (Rock Artist from Virginia(VA))

Originally released in 1976, "Red Letter Day" by Tom Lucas is a CD packed with the truest form of American Rock. Lucas' lyrics deal with the never-ending political issues of our time and don't hold back on his sentiments. Close your eyes and listen to Lucas' vocals as they are pure, crisp, and simple, whereas you might even think you are hearing Neil Young. "Babylon Rising" is piano-driven with an energetic Blues/Rock tonality. The original album contained nine tracks, but the addition of a new track, "Stars In The Night," gives the listeners a taste of nice harmonies and moving beats. The ballad-like song, "Days Numbered," displays emotive vocals and laid-back piano interplay. The entire collection of music on this album is straightforward and well-produced. Fans of Bob Dylan or Neil Young will most certainly want to add Tom Lucas' "Red Letter Day" to their collection of politically-charged albums.

"N.A.G.A. (National Ass Groovin’ Association)" by National Ass Groovin’ Association (Rock Artist from Minnesota(MN))

Jam-packed with high energy Rock/Funk, National Ass Groovin' Association and their self-titled CD, "N.A.G.A. (National Ass Groovin' Association)," makes its mark with non-stop heavy metal madness. This trio stirs the gruff and tough realms of hard core rock with driving power chords and building beats. Driven by razor-sharp guitar, "Belief" and "Beast" emulate the maximum fury of classic heavy metal while impressing with its tight cohesiveness. A catchy bass riff and funky guitar gets the groove going on "Can't Go," with its flashback to the days of the '70's. Displaying their diversity, the ballad "Lost Lyons" shows this trio can dish out a softer side with a sweet piano solo and laid-back guitar riffs. Not only does this band rock, but they definitely have a sense of humor, as evidenced in the short, humorous song that promotes their website, "www.nassgass.com." If you're looking for a full-throttle, maxed-out metal sound, then "N.A.G.A. (National Ass Groovin' Association)," is a must-have addition to your heavy metal collection.
