"Tales of the Burning Heart" by John Eyre (Rock Artist from Europe)

"Tales of the Burning Heart" by John Eyre is a unique collection of songs with melodies that leave you questioning which time period you currently live in. Eyre brings together 70's progressive-pop with baroque-like melodies, and the two styles clash together so well. In "I Will Not Withhold My Love," the baroque elements are most noticeable. With the mix of acoustic guitar, a repeated phrase played on clarinet, electric bass, passionate vocals, and a harpsichord solo, he delivers a mellow yet hopeful sound. In "Live in the Now," Eyre's vocal melodies and guitar rhythms sound very similar to singer/songwriter James Taylor. The production on the album sounds great and flaunts a mix that allows every instrument to be heard. If you enjoy artists such as Peter Gabriel, James Taylor, and the music of the Baroque Era, you will enjoy this CD.
